I am a Designer and an Artist.
I purchased the iPad Pro 2nd Gen. together with the Apple Pencil quiet after the official release in Germany. It was the very first Apple product I have ever bought. From the very beginning I had a terrible experience with that.
To make the story shorter than it is. One of the biggest pain points that drove me nuts was the pencil feedback feeling which just wasn't there and it was hard for me to have the control. The kind of control that the artists know when using a Wacom pen on the screen or a pen on paper.
Anyway I told myself to enjoy it - since I spend a fortune for the iPad. I was hoping just to get used to that lack of control. One year and hundred of drawings later I was still not used to it and not convinced from the feedback free feeling. It was December 2019.
Fortunately it was not hard to find some silicone nib protectors claiming and promising exactly the improvement I was looking for. I was so happy having found the small hope giving things that I directly ordered a bunch of them. And you cannot imagine how happy I was to use them. 😍 ... For exactly 2 days - each of it teared off just that fast. 🤦🏻 ♂️ ... And this is what I hate about our current world. So much things are developed and made just to be used only once. And people still sell it and people still buy it.
This circumstances got my attention. And the PencilLovers story began. Right before the Covid pandemic hit us in beginning of 2020. I was middle in the development in the first worldwide lockdown. Tried to get some materials, people, help, support and just knowledge from different sources. A lot of calls have been made. The world was locked and nobody believed in the idea.
Countless amount of failures and countless of prototypes and almost a year of development I had the first "PencilLovers" from my own handmade home-production and I was ready to share my "PencilLove" with the world. It was in October 2020.
The last and only thing I had to do was to make it official. I went to the cit hall to get the permission (needed in Germany) to be allowed to sell Products. And that's was the second time I realized the impact of the pandemic around us. Processes which took only hours before pandemic took 4 Months in my case. 😭 ... So I am officially allowed to sell since beginning of February 2021.
During the long period of waiting I was working on the quality and the production speed of the PencilLovers. Unfortunately I was not able to speedup the production in the corner of our living room - but I was able to make the quality so much nicer. 🥳 ... I still have the issues of broken leather when I pull it out of my forms. So it's still a surprise for me when I get those little lover's without any damage. 😍 - of course am working on that issue and it makes the product even more unique - some brothers have to sacrifice themselves for some good.
So guys if I got your attention and some if you would like to give the Apple Pencil a new dimension of experiance by improving it in such many ways.
Go for it.
Cheers
Eugene
